Seal of Prophet-hood:

One Religion

Henri de Castries

A former Lieutenant of the French Army

“The religion of the prophets was all one. They were united with regards to their doctrine, from Adam to Muhammad. Three celestial books were revealed; namely the Psalms, the Torah and the Qur’an. The Qur’an in relation to the Torah is similar to the Torah in relation to the Psalms, and Muhammad in relation to Jesus is similar to Jesus in relation to Moses. However, what is of interest and should be made known is that the Qur’an is the last divine book to descend upon the people, and the messenger to which this book was revealed is the seal of prophets. Thus, there is no book after the Qur’an and no prophet after Muhammad.”

Allah’s Wisdom willed that Muhammad (pbuh) would be sent with a message to all people on earth, suitable for every time and place. Allah says: {And We have not sent you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam]) except as a giver of glad tidings and a warner to all mankind, but most of men know not}. [Saba’ :28]

What is more is that He preserved this message against any alteration, so that it may stay alive and vibrant to grant a life to people that is free from the impurities of distortions and alterations. It is for this reason that Allah made him the final seal of all messengers. And Allah Almighty also singled out Muhammad (pbuh) to be the seal of all the prophets. There is no prophet after him, because with him Allah completed His message, sealed His laws and perfected His creation. This is the rationale behind why Allah Almighty made the book which was brought by Muhammad (pbuh) outshine the previous books and abrogate them as well, just as He made the law which the Prophet (pbuh) brought abrogate all previous laws. Allah guaranteed the preservation of Prophet Muhammad’s message and it was, therefore, related by at-tawator. The Qur’an was related vocally and in writing by at-tawator, and also through its actual application with regards to the laws of this religion, as well as its acts of worship, actions of the Prophet and his rules, all coming to us by at-tawator.

Whoever studies the collections of the biography and actions of the Prophet (pbuh) will learn that his companions (may Allah bless them) preserved information describing all the circumstances he passed through and also preserved his words and deeds for the entire human race. They narrated the words of remembrance and acts of worship he used to offer to his Lord, as well as his Istighfaar (asking for forgiveness) and jihad, his generosity and courage, and his treatment of his companions and to those who were near him. They also narrated to us his moments of joy and sadness, travels, times of residence and all about his manners of eating, drinking, clothing, and even waking up and sleeping.

If this fact is taken into consideration, one will realize that this religion has certainly been protected by Allah.

Subsequently, one realizes that he (pbuh) is in fact the seal of the prophets and messengers; and also because Allah told us so. The Almighty said: {Muhammad [sal-Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam] is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allâh and the last (end) of the Prophets. And Allâh is Ever All-Knower of everything}. [Al¬-Ahzâb:40]

The last of the heavenly books

Washington Irving

American Orientalist

“At one time the Torah was the guidance for humans and the basis of their behavior. Then when Christ appeared, the Christians followed the teachings of the Bible. Then the Qur’an took its place, for the Qur’an was more comprehensive and detailed than the former books. The Qur’an also corrected the alterations and changes that had been caused to these two books. The Qur’an contains everything, and encompasses all laws; since it is the last of the heavenly books.”

Teacher of Humanity

Arnold Toynbee

British Historian

“The conduct of the Arab prophet captivated the hearts of his followers, and for them his character rose to the highest degree. They believed in his message which made them receptive to what was revealed to him. Moreover, his actions, as recorded by the traditions of his sayings and acts, were a source of law not limited to the organization of the life of the Muslim group alone, but they also arranged the relations between the Muslim conquerors and the non-Muslims they ruled.”

The Seal of the Prophets

Russian Author

“I am one of those who are very much impressed by Prophet Muhammad, who was chosen by the One God to have His last message revealed through his soul, heart and mind. He also chose him to be the last prophet; hence, no other prophets will come after him.”

Worship Allah

Washington Irving

American Orientalist

“Muhammad was the final and greatest prophet that Allah sent to call people to worship Him alone.”
