Q 3:
Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture.
This is a Hadith reported in
the Two Sahih (authentic) Books of Hadith (i.e. Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
My question is: What is the Islamic ruling on owning a dog out of necessity, such as guarding poultry sheds?
A:
Keeping hounds or watchdogs is permissible; it does not prevent the angels from entering the house. (Part No. 26; Page No. 164) May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
