Iftar starts at the time of the Adhan of the Maghrib Prayer

Q 2: Does Iftar (breaking the Fast) during Ramadan start upon hearing the Adhan (call to Prayer) of the Maghrib (Sunset) Prayer or upon seeing the setting of the sun? According to a Hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Once he was on a journey, he said to one of his Companions: "Get up and mix Sawiq (powdered barley) with water for us." He then bade him mount a camel and watches for the sunset. Once he has seen it, they would immediately break fast.

A: The fast is to be ended upon the sunset or when one has been informed by a trustworthy person that the time of Iftar has become due; alternatively, when they hear the Adhan of the Maghrib Prayer.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
