Shaking hands with non-Mahrams, especially among the relatives

327

A: Your female cousins, your cousins’ daughters, your sister-in-laws, your uncles’ wives, your wife’s sisters, your sister-in-law’s daughter, and all the women you mentioned in your question are non-Mahrams to you, so you are not permitted to look at them with or without sexual desire. The same applies to your father’s cousin and your mother’s cousin, you must not shake hands with them nor look at them for being Ajanib (women lawful for the man to marry) to you and you are not a Mahram (spouse or permanently unmarriageable relative) to them. As for your paternal aunt or your grandfather’s sister, however far back in terms of descent you go, they are Mahrams to you. So are your maternal aunts and your grandmother’s sisters, however far back you go. (Part No. 17; Page No. 45) May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet, his family, and Companions.
