Shortening Salah for a traveler who stays at a place for less than four days

Q 2: I travel to a village that is 200 km away from my city every Saturday at dawn and return in the middle of the week. Is it permissible for me to shorten Salah (prayer) throughout the period that I spend in the village where I stay during my work days? Please, advise. May Allah reward you!


A: If the case is as you have mentioned above, it is permissible for you to shorten Salah during your travel between these two places. However, when you arrive at that village, it is obligatory on you to join the congregation of Muslims in the Masjid, since performing Salah in congregation is obligatory. Thus, you should perform with them Salah in its full Rak‘ahs (units of Prayer) without shortening it.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
