Taking a Mus-haf from the Sacred Mosque

721

Q 4: Is it permissible to take a Mus-haf (copy of the Qur'an) from the Sacred Mosque to recite it at home?

A: It is not permissible to take any Waqf (endowment), whether the Mus-hafs, books or anything like that, outside the place where they are kept. This is so whether it is the Sacred Mosque or any other place. (Part No. 16; Page No. 20) However, if there is a problem with the place where the Waqf is kept, the Waqf should be transferred to another place or to a better place. It is permissible to take a Waqf outside the place where it is kept if it is a Waqf made for common benefit. You may then take it to your home for example or elsewhere but only after you have the consent of the supervisor of the Waqf. It should be noted that copies of the Qur'an are found everywhere at a very low price. Therefore, there is no need to take Mus-hafs from the Waqf. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
